Loreal Hunter

Loreal Hunter is an highly ambitious women with a passion to help others. She currently works in the profession of recruitment and training and enjoys helping individuals reach the next level in their career industry. Loreal  loves God, family, and all things fashion and style. She also enjoy motivational speaking to encourage others to be the best person possible. Loreal graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Family and Consumer Science – Fashion Merchandising. She is a Galvestonian and looks forward to giving back to her community. She recently moved back to this area after living in NYC the last four years. While in NYC Loreal was able to participate in various fashion week events and was employed in the city of Manhattan. She also volunteered  with the Royalty Project where she mentored Harlem youth. Loreal always wanted to empower young girls and women. She was inspired by Tyra banks of next top model when she learned Tyra had a summer camp for girls.  Loreal is currently a board member of The Childhood Cancer Connection which is an organization to create positive experiences for children and families affected by cancer and blood disorders. She actively, volunteers with the Salvation Army, and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Her motto is to keep God first in everything that you do and stay positive.

Kayla Edwards

Kayla Edwards is a YES Waiver Facilitator at Gulf Coast Center with 9 years of experience working with youth. Kayla obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Houston in 2010, and currently working on her masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Lamar University. Kayla was born and raised in Galveston, TX to Yvette McGill and Kenneth Edwards, and is the mother of Khi Edwards. Kayla loves to spend time with her son and family, traveling and making new memories along the way. Kayla is also a proud member of the prestigious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Kayla has a passion for helping others and being a mentor to children and adolescents. After obtaining her master’s degree, Kayla will be a licensed therapist in the state of Texas with the desire to help guide others to their healing and provide free services to her community. “Heal yourself so that the next generation does not feel the hurt.”

Louretta Nickerson

Louretta Nickerson is a PROUD Galveston native and daughter of Michelle Hendricks and the late Howard Smith. She grew up attending schools in Galveston County and is a PROUD class of 2008 Ball High graduate. Louretta is a PROUD alumna of Sam Houston State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Health. Louretta is also a PROUD graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University where she earned her Master of Social Work in 2019. Louretta is the PROUD mother of Johnny Emery V and Emersyn Grace. Louretta is a PROUD employee of 7 plus years at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Louretta is also a PROUD member of the Illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated Sorority, LaMarque Alumnae Chapter. Louretta has the heart to serve and believes in the importance of giving.

Cherelle Stinson

Cherelle Stinson is a native of Galveston Texas, who currently resides in League City Texas. Cherelle Stinson graduated from Ball High School in 2008 where she was the Colonel of the Ball High Tornettes dance team. She then went on to attend The University of Texas at San Antonio, where she perused a major in Psychology. Cherelle is passionate about uplifting the youth in her community through service and being an active role model. In her current position with University Texas Medical Branch, Cherelle is able to work closely with members of the local community, providing them with all the necessary services they may need for their medical concerns. She provides direct, professional and knowledgeable information to patients, physicians, referral sources, and treatment teams. Cherelle is dedicated to empowering young girls to reach their greatest potential.

Misty Walters

Misty Walters is a country girl with a city flair; a PROUD native of El Campo, Texas and graduate of the Class of 1999 from El Campo High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Applied Management from Grand Canyon University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Lamar University. Misty is the loving daughter of Jacqueline Williams and the late Dornal Riggins; however, her greatest assignments are being Omar's wife and the mother to Keenon, Omar II, Tatum, and Owen. Misty provided 15 years of service to Houston ISD and is currently utilizing her talents and skills at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Misty's light shines brightly as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and various committees where she serves the community by organizing and participating in community service events. Misty's future goal is to become an attorney to assist in eliminating the injustices that currently plague the African-American communities.
